Eyes are often an area that people coming to EOS Aesthetics in Berkshire want treating.
Skin is composed of two supporting tissues: collagen and elastin fibres. Collagen works to support the skin and keep it firm whilst elastin keeps everything supple and smooth. During the aging process, these weaken causing the skin to sag and loose internal support. When fluid builds around the eyes, the result is puffiness and swelling. Other factors contribute to puffiness also, such as allergies, too much salt and infection. Dark circles under the eyes may have a variety of causes, including hyper-pigmentation and genetics.
Lifesyle considerations
Looking after your skin from the inside as well as from the outside is equally important. Simple steps such as reducing your salt intake, eating fresh food, reducing alcohol and caffeine, and having a good nights sleep will prevent your skin from holding onto water and improve your skins appearance. It goes without saying drinking plenty of water improves overall hydration. Think about your make up brushes, often these are forgotten tools, and can carry bacteria which may cause infection, regular cleaning will reduce this risk. Don’t forget, take your make up off before bed. Do enable the night mode on your phone and tablet as this reduces blue light, which is proven to disrupt our natural sleep cycle.
Choose your products carefully
A daily sunscreen is essential, regardless of your skin concerns and current skin health. Application of SPF up to the lash line and wearing sunglasses will help to protect the delicate skin under your eyes. Products which include caffeine, hyaluronic acid, peptides, moisture locking ceramides, and vitamin C will address under eye skin health.
